Fire Your BAD Clients and Fire Them Fast!

I just got off the phone with one of my Gold Coast SEO clients who I had to let go.

This client had engaged our Gold Coast SEO and web design services to help create a marketing strategy to help launch their new business venture.

At Innovative Business Marketing, before we accept any new Gold Coast SEO client, we go through a process to ensure that the client’s vision and values are aligned with ours. We also outline the process and what is expected from both us and our clients so as to have full disclosure up front.

In order to be successful in Gold Coast SEO, it needs to be a combined effort from agency and business, both working in unison to achieve the same goal.
In this situation, all seemed to be above board and the partnership between the client and our agency seemed to be a good fit.

However soon cracks began to show…
First, it was running ‘5 minutes late’ to a creative meeting, which soon evolved into being nonresponsive to requests, to the point the project was just sitting in limbo not seeming to move forward.
The truth is that the Gold Coast SEO project was almost paid completely up front so it was not a case of it impacting on cash flow.

You may be wondering; if the project had already been paid for, what was the problem?
The big problem here was it that it was still sucking up valuable time, resources and energy that could have been better focused on other Gold Coast SEO clients.

Furthermore, having half-finished projects sitting around can create a poor working environment.
For these reasons, we had to make the decision to let them go, so as to free up our SEO team to focus their energy and skills on projects that are being productive for our agency.

Firing employees is arguably the most uncomfortable part of business but at times necessary to enable your business to continue to grow.
Firing clients are probably the most confronting aspect of business and one that probably seems crazy to a lot of business owners out there.

Isn’t the goal of business to get more clients do not lose the ones you have?
The answer is obviously YES…but not all clients are equal.

Ask yourself this question:
Knowing what you now know about a client, would you still take them on?
If the answer is NO then taking positive action to free yourself up, it will be one of the most empowering things you will do in business.
